The Underworld is also know as the world of the fairy folks in the Celtic folklore. It is believed that this world exists along with our material world and that it was easy for the fairy folks to enter our world, but we find it quite difficult. Fairy is a common term for all the fairy folks. There are many different fairies, but here are some of the most popular:
Banshee
An Irish female fairy who is attached to a family and her chilling cry is a message if some of the family members is going to die.
Pixie![]()
A mischievous tiny creature, dressed in brown or green colours. Sometimes helping the people with the house work, when they are asleep.
Dryads
The spirits of the trees. The druids use to connect with them for spiritual guidance and inspiration for healing and solving problems.
Elves
They are keepers of the nature and the balance in nature. There are different types of elves – wood elves, sun elves, moon elves, etc.
Wisp (will-o’-the-wisp)
A twirling light or a small spirit that is believed to tend to lead travelers astray or show them hidden treasuries.
Gnome
Also called “Nature`s spirits”, these very small in size fairies live underground and keep all the treasuries of the Earth.
Merfolks
Their bodies consist of human upper torso and fish tale ending with a fin.
There are many other creatures dwelling in the underworld and our own world, just open your senses, you may find the explanation for the strange sounds and voices around and in your house (smile).

It seems a little odd to find ‘pixies’ under Celtic folklore. Pixies are a distinctly British mythology from the region of Cornwall and its surrounding moors. They are not to be confused with ‘faries,’ to which there is some Celtic history, but they are two distinctly different mythologies.

Mmmm, I didn’t really give her too hard a time… I only made one comment 5 months ago pointing out the historical distinctions between the two mythologies, and I didn’t get nasty and call her names over it. As far as leaving her alone, your comment is the first time I’ve thought of this reply in almost half a year. I’d hardly call myself a stalker over it. I’m not really sure I understand your complaint.
